Sometimes it’s not just the deep fryer itself that can make for an enjoyable and safe frying experience. There are several other things to consider depending on the type of deep fryer that you purchase. Also there are some considerations involved in food prep.
Accessories for your deep fryer:
- Splatter Screen
– Some multi-cookers and simple feature deep fryers don’t include a lid. This doesn’t mean you need to be concerned about oil splattering all over the place. Splatter Screens are an inexpensive frying accessory that can save you a lot of cleanup headaches. Splash guards are also useful for many other stove top cooking applications.
- Deep Fryer Thermometer
– All but the most basic small models of deep fryers include thermostats but only mid-range and higher end models include a digital thermometer. Using a thermometer allows for a level of monitoring your oil temperature that would otherwise not be possible. If you are a particularly obsessive deep fryer fanatic, a deep fryer thermometer is for you.
- Stainless Steel Funnel with Strainer
– Some higher end deep fryers include a drain with a built in strainer but if you don’t have one of those models you’ll want to get yourself a funnel with a built in strainer. Funnels don’t cost much and owning one will make storing and reusing your oil a lot easier.

Food Prep Accessories:
- French Fry Cutter
– There’s nothing better than using your deep fryer to make homemade french fries cut fresh from potatoes. Frozen fries just can’t compare. French fry cutters range from basic home units to more costly commercial units. Either way you go, you won’t be disappointed with the results.
- Cutting Board
- While not strictly a frying accessory, a good cutting board can make a huge difference in your food prep.
