The Rival CZF625 2.5-Liter Cool Touch Fryer is a medium capacity fryer that has some features to like and some to dislike. On the good side it comes with a drop down basket that can be dropped into the oil once the lid is already closed making the chance for spattering and overflows very minimal. The Rival CZF625 fryer also has a couple handy icons next to the temperature control which allow you to easily select whether you are cooking fried chicken or french fries.
Included in the box was an instructional booklet that gave cooking temperatures and times for many more foods. I found though that with basic foods, using the built in timer was more of a hassle than it was useful, and quickly began checking for doneness simply by raising the basket and looking at whatever food I was frying.
This unit comes with a top viewing window which is mostly useless because with the lid closed it is fairly dark inside the fryer and the inside of the window quickly becomes covered with condensation making it virtually impossible to see anything without opening the lid.
The lid on my Rival CZF625 2.5-Liter Cool Touch Fryer actually became the greatest area of concern for a couple of reasons. Even though you should be able to store oil in the unit for repeated use, the lid didn’t seem to create an adequate seal for that purpose. One of the hinges on the lid also broke within a year making it quite dangerous to open while in operation.
I can’t say that I strongly recommend the Rival CZF625 2.5-Liter Cool Touch Fryer, not when there are comparably priced alternatives
